CEDRIC STATON, LPCC
Therapist & Forensic Consultant
Welcome—I’m Glad You’re Here
Hi, I’m Cedric Staton, a Licensed Mental Health Therapist & Forensic Consultant (LPCC #11040, CA), with a passion for helping people rewrite their stories—whether they’re navigating trauma, identity, or the legal system. Originally from North Carolina, I’ve called San Diego home for over a decade. My journey into therapy was deeply personal—rooted in healing from early childhood loss after my father passed away. That experience taught me firsthand how trauma shapes our inner world, and it’s what inspires the work I do today.
Therapy isn't just my profession—it’s deeply personal. I’ve carried a lifelong compassion for those touched by the legal system, shaped in part by my own early experience with the justice system. These moments fostered a deep commitment to creating spaces of healing for those who often feel overlooked or misunderstood. Today, I help teens and young adults work through trauma, identity exploration, and the pressures of life so they can reclaim their sense of self and move toward wholeness.
Whether you're navigating identity, trauma, legal system involvement, or immigration-related stress, my goal is to offer a space where you can feel fully seen and supported. In addition to therapy, I specialize in psychological evaluations for legal and immigration purposes. My work is grounded in respect—for your story, your survival, and your future.
My Clinical Approach
With dual master's degrees in both Clinical and Forensic Psychology, my work blends compassionate care with clinical precision. Over the years, I’ve worked in community mental health, correctional reentry programs, and California’s Conditional Release Program (CONREP), where I supported individuals navigating serious mental illness and legal supervision.
In my private practice, I provide therapy to teens and adults using an integrative, trauma-informed approach. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic work, Brainspotting, and Mindfulness. I’m especially attuned to the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals, those from non-traditional families, and people who’ve experienced systemic harm or identity-based trauma.
Whether we’re working in therapy or through the lens of an evaluation, my role is to hold space for your full experience—without judgment—and help you move toward healing and clarity.
More Than a Therapist
Outside the therapy room, you can find me outdoors soaking up San Diego’s beauty—whether I’m hiking along the coast with my pups, exploring new bike trails, or flying my drone to capture aerial views of the city I love. I also stay grounded through community and sport, including time on the rugby pitch. These experiences keep me connected, energized, and reminded of the many ways healing and strength show up in our lives.
Just as I bring my full self to the work I do, I hope to support you in doing the same. Whether you’re seeking support for life’s everyday stressors or navigating something more complex like court involvement or immigration, I’m here to walk beside you as you rediscover your voice, deepen your resilience, and write the next chapter of your story.
If you're ready to embark on this journey, I'm ready to support you every step of the way. Reach out to me to schedule a session or to learn more about how we can work together toward reclaiming your joy and stepping into your power.
